Today turned out to be a pretty good day for my lifts. I got them in after messing with some yard work and going to for a game of mini golf, then more yard work afterwards. It was a great day out in the sun.

This morning I did a WOD that had kettlebell swings. I went with the 32 kg and forgot how great of an exercise they can be. I'd highly recommend people get a proper kettlebell and learn to use it. It takes up virtually no space and is a great piece of equipment to have.

I was pretty busy in the home gym today. I got my bench press and a WOD done this morning. When Molly got home, she was going to do her shoulder presses. I was feeling good, so I did mine with her.

I felt good this morning, so I was anxious to get out in the garage and do my bench press. While warming up with just the bar, the adjustable bench fell to the bottom position. I guess it wasn't set right. I reset it and bounced my weight on it, and it was fine.

Some days are like today. Nothing seems to go right at all. I couldn't get the bench lined up right. Used the wrong weight for bench press, and then I did a WOD that had tons of hop overs.

I wanted to challenge myself with weights on a WOD today. I hunted down an old low rep one. I found a burpee plus clean and jerk one which was perfect to push the weight.

Last week I took a brief break from the garage gym. I had been feeling really run down for one. The other thing is my girlfriend had off work, and it was mostly great weather, so we spent a lot of time outside on the trail geocaching.

Last year, my arm/ shoulder was fucked. I found that a lot of the dumbbell stuff made it feel worse, so I took a break. I started back up recently and am already benching the fifties with no discomfort.

There was one of the dirty work WODs that has intrigued me, so I wanted to give it a try today. I used the sled instead of running, but what intrigued me was the sandbag bear hug carries. It was easier with the strong man sandbag than the brute force one.

One problem that I do sometimes have working out at home is just getting stuck with weights that I am comfortable with. As I get older and the fact that I don't have a coach watching makes it harder for me to push the weights up in WOD sometimes.

I am really feeling tired and run down today. I had heavy back squats for my strength and wasn't feeling it. Much to my surprise, I made it through them at the PR of 270 pounds, which really surprised me. I went light on the power cleans and presses to play it safe, though.

Today I did my old Crossfit Trinium one rep max back squat weight for sets of five today, and they felt great. The other lifts were less aggressive. Later I did an old WOD with numerous lunges and that felt good.

This was one of those days that I had very low expectations for. I've been gassy as hell and didn't sleep too well last night because of it. My lifts were all on the heavy side to add to that. In the end, everything went well, and I made all of my lifts, even with dropping the stupid 2.5 pound change plate on my toe.

It doesn't happen that often but I walked away from a WOD out of frustration due to my vision. I can count on my hands how many time that's occurred but it has happened rarely.

Today's strength went a lot better for me than I expected it to. On Saturday I rolled my ankle while hiking and it was a bit angry at me yesterday. Today it felt fine so I attempted my strength and it went great.

Yesterday I did a WOD with farmer's lunges so I used the 40 pounds dumbbells. Heavier than I normally do lunges and the other movement of the WOD was step ups. Needless to say, my legs are done. My squats and deadlifts felt heavier today but I did them.

This morning I easily worked through my strength for the day then did a longer endurance rowing type of WOD. Later on I attempted and aborted my twenty rep squats for this week.

Every once in a while I get the urge to do either a WOD or my lifting or maybe both with no music at all. There's something about it that makes it feel even better. Today's lifts were performed that way and they felt great.

It was really a surprising day for me today. I attempted my twenty rep back squats at 250 pounds the other day and aborted at one rep. Today after not sleeping super well due to alcohol I made the PR at the 250 pounds and they didn't even feel that bad.

Having done my Crossfit Total a couple of days ago I took a couple of days off then reset my weights. It worked out perfect so that I was only lifting prettylight on days we wanted to get out geocaching.

Today it is a rainy day. My middle finger is a bit angry from curling my step grandson yesterday. I did a lighter WOD than I normally have because of that When we went for a walk in the evening, I had to jump in the puddles because life's too short to not have fun.

My strength went okay today, even though it was very humid from the tropical depression. I did a WOD later in the day. The worst thing about that WOD was the absurd amount of sweating I was doing from the humidity.

I really had no idea how I'd do with my strength today after twisting me knee, tripping on one of the poorly maintained sidewalks in Mount Joy. Everything ended up going well. Even my heavier deadlifts felt great!

It has been some time since I've done a WOD that had devil press in it. I've been avoiding those with my arm acting up. Today was the first WOD that I've done with them in it and it felt better than I thought it would.

For the past several birthdays, I have been doing challenges when it comes up. I had been doing burpee pull-ups because that was more challenging than plain burpees. This year, I did body weight back squats unbroken.

It is hotter than Hell Today. It was about 90 ℉ when I went out into the garage, but I still did okay with my stuff. I am thankful that we have and use an air conditioner for our garage gym.

Last night's temperature was very cool for this time of the year, with it getting to near 50. I slept better due to that. Today is much cooler, too, so I felt better in the garage. I had a fantastic day lifting.

The filler bag that holds the pea gravel in my sandbag broke during a WOD. I ate a lot of dust and sand and it made the WOD even more awkward. I guess I'll see how Brute Force's warranty service actually is.

I am getting back into the heavier sandbag WODs again. My old rep fitness sandbag kept having the fillers open and make a mess so I sort of got away from having the two filler bags in it. That's when they seemed to open.

I did this weeks Street Parking sandbag WOD. It was pretty much an exercise in Murphy's Law. I slipped and twisted my ankle on sweat doing lunges. Had trouble visually and a disappointing time. It was still a great workout.

Ever since I started Crossfit power cleans have fucked with my mind once in a while. Today I worked up to a heavy single power clean. I hit 195 pounds easily with more in the tank. At 200 pounds my brain shut it down even though I knew I had more in the tank.

I was thinking about passing on today's WOD being tired and all but I gave the single shoulder squats a try. They felt awkward but not bad with the sandbag. It's always so nice to find success out of my comfort zone.

The heat and humidity are still screwing with me lifting. Today it was a cause of a double failure on my lifts. Disappointing but not unexpected since my body doesn't deal with heat very well.

I finally got around to doing my first sandbag WOD since I switched my filler bags from sand to pea gravel. The bag had about the same weight as I'd been using but a slightly different feel to it. That did make the WOD go a bit slower.

It never fails. When I decide to do a running WOD everyone needs to drive down our Alley. It can go hours without a car passing until I go out there to run. It seems that someone has to drive on it every lap.

I did a WOD today that was a repeat WOD. On today's score I was a little over two minutes faster than the last time so that's good progress in my eyes.

Today was another nice spring day. That mean we could do a WOD on the patio. I took my box out there to do box jumps! I love box jumps but don't have the space to safely do them inside in case I miss.

Today I broke in my new plyo fix with a box jump WOD. I love box jumps sometimes and they're just fun. I have't done them in well over a year since jumping on the bench doesn't cut it for me visually.

I couldn't be more thrilled with how my twenty rep back squats are going. I made it to bodyweight now for twenty reps. That's further along than I ever imagined I could do.

Today it was sunny and got warm enough to take the bar outside for a WOD and it felt great. I have taken the sandbag out a few times on but it was nice to play with the bar.

Improvements don't always have numbers. Every so often, it's more about just how you feel doing a repeat WOD. Occasionally, it's just being able to do something that you were unable to do in the past. It being time for the Crossfit Open reminded me of this thought.

I have no idea when or how it happened, but lunges have finally clicked into place for me. For many years, I struggled with lateral balance. I wrote it off as something I might never get, with only having one eye that's really even useful for anything.

I've been able to keep the intensity up so far while doing the Street Parking WODs. They have less of a knack for throwing something in that slows me down than Crossfit did.

I don't really keep it a secret that I love lifting. Squats are my favorite lift. It's just me against the weight and gravity. My low vision really isn't a factor, and I love that I don't have something uncontrollable holding me back.

One thing I do miss about going to the gym is being able to do a WOD together. A lot of times we don't have the space to do that here. Today we were able to do the sandbag version of today's WOD together!

I miss using my bright green j cups like I could at Trinium. I just can't see the black ones. They don't seem to make colored ones that would work with our rack. I have searched.

One thing I enjoy about fitness related stuff is trying new movements or exercises. Today's Street Parking WOD called for seated box jumps. I have always wanted to try them and now I have done them.

First time ding box jump overs. We went to a friend's boot camp and he had box jump overs programmed. I tried them and didn't like how the soft plyo box felt unstable so I started legitimately jumping completely over it. That was actually fun. Reminded me of being a young kid and doing stuff like that.

We started doing Street Parking WODs about a month or so ago and I noticed they had a sandbag WOD once a week and options in many of the daily WODs. I picked up a Brute Force sandbag and love this addition to our toy box.

We've been in a long run with getting into Crossfit for many reasons. The big one was scheduling. We discovered Street Parking cheap aNd fun programming earlier this month and have enjoyed it.
