Today I did box jumps in a WOD. It's the first time I've done those in a long time. I do like them, but our space and my vision make them less than ideal for me.

I don't normally do box jumps here in the home gym because we don't have enough room for me to safely fail in my normal failure modes. The risk with me being legally blind is pretty high to and usually just isn't worth it to me. Today I did them for the WOD and really did enjoy them. I do love jumping.

Today was another nice spring day. That mean we could do a WOD on the patio. I took my box out there to do box jumps! I love box jumps but don't have the space to safely do them inside in case I miss.

With the rainy days recently I've been skipping running WODs and saving them for better weather. I've noticed that my running has greatly improved even though I am not doing much of it.

My deadlifts finally failed today. That was at 305 pounds which is where I'd hoped to make it to. More would have been better but 305 was my realistic hope.

Today I broke in my new plyo fix with a box jump WOD. I love box jumps sometimes and they're just fun. I have't done them in well over a year since jumping on the bench doesn't cut it for me visually.

On a whim I bought a Carson Blackwave 10x50 Monocular because it was cheap and my old one had warn out. I wouldn't call this telescope perfect for me but it seems good and cheap enough I can always have it out which is handy being visually impaired.

I don't really keep it a secret that I love lifting. Squats are my favorite lift. It's just me against the weight and gravity. My low vision really isn't a factor, and I love that I don't have something uncontrollable holding me back.

I do some strange things, being visually impaired. I cannot see faces to recognize them, so there has been more than one occasion where I thought the person I was talking to was someone entirely different If I'm not super familiar with their voice.

One thing I enjoy about fitness related stuff is trying new movements or exercises. Today's Street Parking WOD called for seated box jumps. I have always wanted to try them and now I have done them.

First time ding box jump overs. We went to a friend's boot camp and he had box jump overs programmed. I tried them and didn't like how the soft plyo box felt unstable so I started legitimately jumping completely over it. That was actually fun. Reminded me of being a young kid and doing stuff like that.

My old trusty Vanguard DM 8250 telescope wore out. That was a perfect one for me, and sadly, they don't seem to make them anymore. The hunt begins for something else.

The thing about being visually impaired is like I am is I can never have too many magnifiers lying around. I don't like fancy ones. I like cheap ones. I came across this Bausch & Lomb one on Amazon that looked like it'd be the type i like to use.

There are many myths of misconceptions about visually impaired computer users. On Reddit I saw a legally blind person ask for advice and there were some good suggestion then some things that were outright ignorant.

Last night I read an article about them doing something with stem cells to regrow cornea tissue. This is the sort of thing I might consider trying since the grafts didn't work out so well for me.

One teacher in middle school ruined school for me. He insisted that I was faking my visual impairment and just didn't want to wear glasses. When I had off for two weeks for my last cornea transplant the told me that he knew I just wanted a vacation. If I could remember his name I'd name and shame him.
