I am legally blind, and I have been doing Crossfit. I will make some posts on here about how my visual impairment challenges me for different Crossfit movements and aspects.

Growing up and being visually impaired all my life I've learned to accept that I will occasionally not see something and walk into it. I used to be embarrassed by it as a middle school kid but now I just accept it will happen and just laugh it off.

On a whim I bought a Carson Blackwave 10x50 Monocular because it was cheap and my old one had warn out. I wouldn't call this telescope perfect for me but it seems good and cheap enough I can always have it out which is handy being visually impaired.

I miss using my bright green j cups like I could at Trinium. I just can't see the black ones. They don't seem to make colored ones that would work with our rack. I have searched.

My old trusty Vanguard DM 8250 telescope wore out. That was a perfect one for me, and sadly, they don't seem to make them anymore. The hunt begins for something else.

The thing about being visually impaired is like I am is I can never have too many magnifiers lying around. I don't like fancy ones. I like cheap ones. I came across this Bausch & Lomb one on Amazon that looked like it'd be the type i like to use.

The Kindle allows me to read again. Large print books were prohibitively expensive with print not quite large enough. Not only that but the selection was typically poor and catered to old people. The Kindle lets me make anything large print thats on there.

Last weekend, I had the police called on me for using my telescope to look for Molly's car. I didn't want to hang out in a crowded store and take up space. I couldn't find it, so I waited by the doors. I got harassed by three police officers for "checking out cars." I got the sense they were looking for trouble, so I tried to defuse the situation. Aren't they supposed to be the professionals?

CAPTCHA Are one of the few things that I truly hate. All they are is an hindrance for me with my visual impairment. The audio ones are so muffled that I can't make them out with my less than perfect hearing.

There are many myths of misconceptions about visually impaired computer users. On Reddit I saw a legally blind person ask for advice and there were some good suggestion then some things that were outright ignorant.

I got to spend a couple of hours in a book store yesterday. I love books! I could have left if a car load of books if I had the money and could see them. large print books are so expensive and there's such a poor selection of them it sucks.

Last night I read an article about them doing something with stem cells to regrow cornea tissue. This is the sort of thing I might consider trying since the grafts didn't work out so well for me.

One teacher in middle school ruined school for me. He insisted that I was faking my visual impairment and just didn't want to wear glasses. When I had off for two weeks for my last cornea transplant the told me that he knew I just wanted a vacation. If I could remember his name I'd name and shame him.
