Bench Press And A WOD

Last night I didn’t sleep nearly enough. I stayed up to watch the Phillies. I am starting to think that Philly sports are not good for my nerves. Of course I will continue to watch them, though.

After I woke up and drank my coffee. Sadly, I just missed my girlfriend before she left for work. I enjoy drinking the morning coffee with her. It’s the little things in life that truly matter, and that’s a prime example. At least it felt okay this morning. A little humid but not bad. We had a bit of rain, which helped me get in a good mood.

Fairly early this morning I got out into the garage while it was raining to get started on the day’s bench press. This week is the week of the 1+ rep AMRAP. The weight is still fairly light, though, so I was feeling good about it.

The whole morning I had issues with being a little off-center on the bar. If you have ever benched, you know that makes things a lot more challenging. The lightweight made it doable, but it was still pretty annoying.

That continued with the final AMRAP. The program called for doing that at 170 pounds. It is not really that heavy for me, but I was way off center on this set, so I only got the one rep. That’s okay, though.

I relaxed, lying in bed for a little on my tablet while thinking about wanting to get a WOD in this morning while it was not too hot yet. I wanted something short, but I could hit with a little intensity weight-wise since I was feeling fine after those squats yesterday.

I found one in my favorites that was just a simple SHIFT version of one with hang power snatches and, in my case, rowing. That was exactly what I was interested in doing. I grabbed the 35-pound dumbbell and used that for the workout.

The snatches were all unbroken and felt easy. I felt nothing out of the ordinary in my leg or hip, and I had no hesitation at all with hammering them out quickly. Last week I still did them but lighter and felt a good bit of tightness in that leg. Today there was none of that, so I was happy with the result.

Before putting dry clothes on after I relaxed a bit, I went outside and cut the grass. We have had quite a few days with at least some rain and some sun, so it has been growing pretty crazy. The neighbor has decided that they are just done with mowing. None of my business, and I don’t care, but I can’t help but notice it has not been touched since before we were in Philly.

It’s more that the person down the street is so adversely affected that he has to call the borough to complain. I sense that it is just a matter of time until he does it again, and we don’t feel like dealing with them sending a letter to deal with the grass.

Music for today was Acid Bath.
