Up Way Too Early But Bench Felt Great
This morning I was feeling tired. Extremely tired. That is all I can say. My brain decided that it was time to wake up about 2 in the morning. I tried to go back to sleep, but the old brain just would not shut up. Eventually I gave up on that and got up and drank my coffee.
After I was done before sunrise I was under the cozy covers scrolling on my tablet a bit and I think I managed to rest my eyes for at least a few minutes. It couldn’t have been long but I remember becoming aware.
Given the sleep situation or lack of it I should say I wanted to get to my bench press as soon as possible this morning. I did have to wait until it warmed up enough to take the plants back outside. For now the spider plant hangs on the rack and the large palm takes up a lot of space.
I took them ou t onto the patio this morning and got started on the bench press. Right from the start the lifts were actually feeling good again. I took my time and slowly went up in weight warming up and even did an extra set with just the bar.
The working sets felt much easier than I expected them to feel. My brain and body were both dead tired, but I was able to knock the sets easily. I even found myself taking shorter rest times than usual.
The final AMRAP called for 5+ reps at 160 pounds. I got an easy 7 with more in the tank. That was exactly what I got last cycle with the same weight. I wonder if I forgot to update the weight for this cycle? It’s probably the same because 5 pounds isn’t much to go up.
This morning was one of those uncommon days when I manage to not get myself off centered on the bar. With my vision issues it seems to be impossible for me to get the bench lined up right and centered right. Other lifts I can confiscate for that by physically moving. The bench though has to be moved. When I move it, it tends to be too far to the other side or something. I make it work though. Really it only rears its ugly head when I am going for an extra rep at a heavier weight or up near my max. I don’t foresee myself getting a WOD in today but who knows? I will see how I feel later. I can also say I was strongly considering skipping the benching today too and doing that another day. Obviously I am glad I did it today since it felt so great!
The garage was chilly since we don’t have the heat on but it felt great. It wasn’t really all that cold enough that the heater would have been kicking on anyway. Just chilly after the long hot summer.
I wound up not doing a WOD as of early this afternoon, but I did go out on the patio to sit in the sun for a title bit. That felt great and was just what I needed. I tried to rest my eyes in bed for a little, but I am just too restless. A nap for me is an incredibly rare occurrence. For the most part it is reserved for when I am sick or when I did not have my levothyroxine for a couple of months.
Music for today was Archspire.
