Deadlifts Felt Great This Morning Then Rowed
I woke up this morning feeling much better. My head was not nearly as stuffy, and what was in it seems to be breaking up now. My eyes were water but nearly as mch as yesterday and I didn’t have is strong of a sensitivy to light either. We slept with the air on last night because it was pretty humid. I wonder if maybe that helped some. The windows are open now, and I feel better still, so possibly it’s just passing. I was feeling a bit better last night.
While I was drinking my coffee I was thinking that I felt prettyh eager to get out into the garage rather early this morning to be the heat for my deadlifts. It was pretty warm and humid.
Not long after the sun came up, I got dressed and headed out to start my pulls. I didn’t know how my head would hold up as I was feeling a little off as the loose stuff moved around, but I thought I’d give it a try and see what happens.
I took my time working up through my warm-up sets, which were feeling perfect today. It is a new cycle with lighter weight, which worked out really well for my head issues, but either way the working sets felt great too. The final AMRAP was for 5+ reps at a pretty light 240 pounds. They felt fairly light and easy. I did stop at 5 even with more in the tank.
I ate something and relaxed for a couple of hours but decided I wanted to get a workout in. I went with one of the endurance intervals on the rower. 1 minute on and rest a minute for 10 rounds. My legs were a bit tired, so I wanted something simple that would be a bit of moderate cardio for today.
The rowing felt great. The WOD was a clusterfuck for me, though, as I did everything I could wrong. I messed up setting the timer, so a false start. Forgot to start my watch the first round. I forgot to connect the rower to it. Finally, I forgot to stop my watch when I was done. It was really just the typical Carlism kind of day.
The important thing to me is despite all the technicalities of it that I screwed up, I still did the work. The score and stuff might be off, but the benefits were still there. They aren’t concerned about the score at all. I actually pushed a little harder on the oar than I expected I would, so that was a nice bonus too. It actually didn’t get my heart rate up a lot, but that’s okay. I felt like I was much more in sync with the pulling than I have been in a long time, too.
What I actually wanted to do was hop on the bike the past couple of days. But with my head feeling off, I thought that wasn’t the wisest of ideas. The bike is tall, and I feel like I will fall off it as it is without the stuffy head. The rower, on the other hand, is practically the floor. There will be time for the bike later.
A funny side note is even though I was rowing and had the music pretty loud, I kept hearing a cricket chirping over the music playing. The crickets getting into our garage every fall makes me smile when I hear them for weeks or months. Nature is wonderful. I am a sucker for nature’s finding ways to survive where it wouldn’t be expected to survive.
Music for today was Atheist.
