Presses Felt Okay After Quad Cramps

This morning I woke up feeling a bit tired. It didn’t help meters that I woke up not too long after 3 o’clock. Even being tired though I felt pretty okay. I was eager to get to my bench press later in the morning.

While I was drinking my coffee I started working on setting up a light color scheme for this website too so set it up with both prefers-color-scheme and light-dark() in the style sheets to let the browsers choose people’s preference. With my vision I prefer dark, but I know a lot of people prefer light. It annoys me to no end when apps don’t have a dark mode. At least in the browser I can use Dark Reader.

I finished my coffee and took a bit of a break from working on that and stretched out in bed on my tablet for a few minutes. I stretched at one point and got the worst cramp I have ever had in my quad. It took a few minutes to fade. That put a damper on my plans to do bench press today.

After a few minutes I got back up to come back on the computer to finish up with those style sheets. When I get started on something like that I just want to get it done. I would have finished last night, but I got caught up watching the Dodges lose. When the Dodgers lose baseball wins. I got it working pretty well. In time, I will tweak the light color scheme a bit to match my tastes. All in all I am pretty happy with it so far. In my very quick tests it works as I expected.

While doing that I was thinking about what I wanted to do out in the garage gym today. Bench press can make my quad cramp a bit so that was out. Squats I am saving for later in the week so they were out. I figured I could give strict press a try.

I got changed and talk the long journey out the door to the garage and got started. I started with an extra initial warm up set with just the bar instead of jumping in at the programmed 55 pounds to see how things felt. They were fine so I took my time building up in weights.

The heavier working sets felt excellent for me considering how the day began. I was happy about that and continued to work up to that final set. That last AMRAP called for 1+ reps at 130 pounds. It’s a heavier weight for me but usually easy peasy unlike back at the old gym when it was a struggle. I got a decently easy 2 reps in today and stopped there before I got Myles angry again. It would have most likely been fine to keep going, but I wanted to play it safe.

I will see about getting a WOD in later on today. I wanted to get a nice long row or maybe run a bit but neither of hose would be a wise choice today.

Early this afternoon I wanted to take a few minutes out on the patio in the sun, but my ass got wet. The cushion had flipped down in the chair so the bottom one hadn’t dried yet. It shouldn’t take long for it to dry now though. It was in the upper 70s with bright sunshine so gotta take advantage of this while I can since it is October now.

Music for today was Cephalic Carnage.
