Deadlifts Felt The Best In A Long Time

Last night I slept great! The night before I did too so I woke up feeling excellent. I even slept in until 5 o’clock. I was disappointed to miss my girlfriend before she left for work though.

Tonight I will not sleep so great. I will be up late switching back and forth between the Eagles game and the World series game looking for my sister who will be there! I am so happy she can go!

I drank and enjoyed my coffee early this morning while waiting for it to warm up a little in the garage. We don’t have the heater turned on yet and won’t be needing it for at least another week it looks like so that’s good! Who likes to spend money when it’s unnecessary. Looks like we will be in the 70s later this week!

I also wanted to wait for it to get lighter out there and for it to be late enough to not be a dickhead neighbor. I messed around on the computer for a bit wile doing that.

I was originally planning on doing bench press, but I was feeling so good I switched it up and did the deadlifts instead this morning.

As soon as I did the first warm up set with just the 35 plates on the bar I knew it was going to be a good day. My brain and body just felt extra connected with the movement today.

I continued to feel great as I slowly worked my way through the warmup sets. The cool air felt good on my face and the sun felt good on my legs coming in the window.

The working sets felt even better. My body felt in tune with the movements which is such a rare thing for me with deadlifts. Other lifts yes but with deadlifts I always overthink things. Today I wasn’t. I was just going with the flow and feeling good as I was doing it.

The final AMRAP called for 3+ reps at 270 pounds. I did 3 and stopped. I do not really know why I stopped. I am not sure if I even realized I did until after the fact. The lifts felt so easy, and my form felt so great. I know I left more in the tank, and I was even thinking I was good for 4 or 5 at least at this weight today. Next thing I knew I was walking away. My grip didn’t even give out! I guess it is just habit from the fits being a struggle for me most of the time.

The deadlifts this morning felt the best they have in a very long time for me. I have no idea why. I sure wish they always felt great though. They are such a mental chore for me most of the time. I only do them because I know they are an excellent exercise to do if done properly. With all my exercises I do my absolute best to do them properly. That is far more important in my mind than weight moved or rep count.

It was sunny and in the lower 60s later on this morning, so I did get a bit of time out on the patio in the sun. That felt great and was relaxing after dong the deadlifts an hour or two before. I do not miss hearing the homeschooled kids that used to live half a block away with the nonstop screeching for hours at a time. I also don’t miss hearing the guy down the street’s dogs. It is a lot more peaceful outside now!
