Deadlifts Were Good Til They Weren't
Last night I slept good. I went to bed early thinking that the baseball game was tonight. I even checked before I went to bed. I was happy to see the Rays won while I was drinking my coffee. The coffee was excellent as always.
I was looking forward to getting in gear and heading out into the garage to do my deadlifts. No I donβt mean on gear! That isnβt my cup of tea, but I am not here to judge either.
Around mid-morning I got changed and headed out into the garage to get started. I spent the setup time tripping over shit including my own feet ad was thinking man this is going to be a long morning.
Once I started lifting thing went smoothly though. The warmup sets all felt easy and great like they should for the lighter weight. I felt nothing at all out of the ordinary in my hamstring. After doing.
The heavier working weight sets felt amazing for the most apart too. I managed to get three I for the AMRAP. It was supposed to be 5, but I felt like I had a weird setup on that last one I set my back to do. I do allow myself to regrip the bar when it gets heavier, but I do not allow myself to keep trying. I just walked away after that. Well I put my shit away first but I stopped. The strange thing is my watch counted 4 reps while I counted 3. I will stick with what I counted. I guess maybe it counted standing up from the failed rep as one.
I relaxed and surfed the web a bit, but I was thinking about wanting to get a WOD in then go outside in the sun when it got a bit warmer.
Late this morning I got out there and did a workout that was deadlifts and dumb hop overs. I used the 97 pound kettlebell for the deadlifts and did okay with the hop overs. As I state every time they are dumb movement. I much prefer the deadlifts with the kettlebell than the dumbbells. With the dumbbells the setup feels weird, and I smash my toes at times. My feet just turn out naturally, and I donβt have the awareness and cannott really see where the dumbbell heads are.
I went a little faster on the WOD than I have been recently and it felt good. It got my heart rate up a little too!
When I was done doing the workout I put my shit away then headed out on the patio. It felt great, but I did have to come inside and put pants on rather than shorts. There was a nice breeze, and it was just a tad chilly for shorts with that. At least it was once my body settled down a bit. The sun was bright and strong and felt perfect on my face and arms.
Music for today was Malignancy.
