Little Disappointed In My Squats

I did not sleep well at all last night and certainly didn’t sleep well enough on Thursday night. I am feeling rundown. Last night I fell asleep early but got a phone called pretty late. At some point my settings must have changed, so I get a notification on my watch at night whereas I didn’t tin the past.

That got me in panic but it’s all good. I was glad to catch up with an old friend! It has been a long time since we chatted. He actually told me something I needed to hear. It was nice to reminisce a little too!

When I went back to bed my knee was bugging me a bit. It didn’t hurt, but I couldn’t get comfortable, so I just tossed and turned for what seemed like hours. Finally, I fell asleep

When I got up I was still feeing pretty tired but okay. We had a bit of running around to do this morning, but I knew wanted to get out in the garage and do something today. I was really thinking I wanted to give my squats a go since me knee was feeling fine. I was working on some of my sass files.

It was not until around lunchtime when I got off my ass and got changed to go out here and get under the bar. I decided I would give this week’s squats a shot. It is late, but I wanted to stay on schedule.

Today just the empty bar felt tough on my upper shoulders. They felt sort of bruised, so the pressure of the bar didn’t feel so great. Now that I think about it that was probably caused by the power cleans I did the other day with the barbell.

I took my time working my way up through the weights. The weight never felt great on my upper back but the squats all felt good enough. I do feel like my stance is naturally continuing to narrow.

On the final set that was supposed to be the AMRAP of 3+ I wound up only getting two done. That was two more than I felt like doing so I was happy as hell with it. My form was good. It was just too uncomfortable on my shoulders o my brain shut it down on the last rep. There was more in the tank. I should have done more but it just wasn’t in the books on this day. The two I did at 250 pounds were a great feeling double though. That weight was near my regular max in at Crossfit Trinium when we went in their years ago. I was a decade younger than, but I rarely got above that weight on a good day. Today I did it when I didn’t want to.

The success some days is just about getting a good fair attempt in. Today was one of those days if there ever was one. I did not feel like it. I did not want to. Laying on the couch sounded better to me on this particular day. I got out here and battled with gravity and my nay saying thoughts a bit and felt great that I did that.

More often than not your body can do it even if your brain in screaming at you to quit.

Music today was Dripping.
