Leaves Are Turning Already
Winter must be on its way here in Mount Joy. Last night the air had a distinct chill to it as it got into the 40s early and stayed there all night. It wasn’t the first time this fall but today it felt cooler in the house as we have lost some heat.
Yesterday whilst I was mowing the grass I noticed that the breeze had a bit of a nip to it. It was in the upper 60s but the air felt a little cooler than that. I say bring it on! I t was a long and hot summer. If Molly sees this it might be my last post ever since she might kill me. She hates the cold and winter.
Another thing that caught my eyes today is that a fair amount of the leaves on the neighbor’s maple tree are starting to fade into the dull yellow they turn.
A lot of the other trees around here are losing their bright green and fading into the fall colors. I don’t have a schedule for when this typically happens but it seems to be quite early for it. At least it feels early on my first reaction.
Last weekend it was pretty cool and rainy. It was just a dreary weekend. So I guess that might be part of the reason. We have had a lot of cloudy days this fall. That has especially been the case early this month.
Yesterday when I was mowing couldn’t help but notice the small amount of leaves littering the ground. It was starting to smell a bit like fall with smelling the leaves.
Leaves Just beginning To Change

Today definitely feels like a fall day. The sun is not as strong as the summer. It still feels pretty warm on the skin. The high today was only in the middle 60s so that felt cool since my body is still in summer mode.
How can one not love nature? It is such a pleasure to see the leaves change. It’s also a joy to see the green popping up in the spring and all the flowers.
Nature never stays the same. There is always a lot of movement and change. Things grow and die and fall apart only to get back into the cycle of life. The cycle of life will keep going as long as the sun is providing energy. I am pretty confident that mother nature will find a way to adapt and continue without us. When we are long gone nature will still be producing new things. I would even think life will survive us destroying the world in one form or another.
Me? I am here to enjoy what nature has to offer. I am also here to do my best to leave the world slightly better than it was when I got here. Unlike most people I do not believe we are better than nature. We are a part of nature. A result of evolution.
