Changed Site's Menu To Use Popover

I did a little messing around with this site’s templates this morning. I discovered the ability for browsers to popoverfor it. Earlier this year I had switched to a collapsable menu using or abusing the <summary and <details> elements.

That worked just fine and had no reason to switch it besides the fact that I just happened to notice the pop-over feature. Me being me of course I had to explore that and get that implemented.

It was pretty straight forward to get it set up. I had the normal Carlism of messing up the brackets in the CSS but I have said before it is more of a visual thing for me.

The transitions right now are not working like they had before. I am in the simplifying mod so I am not really even sure if I want to get them running again. It is just fluff. I am a sucker for eye candy sometimes but then other times I just can’t be bothered. I end to have animations on my own devices turned off where I can.

This may not work in older browsers where the summary/detail method would but that felt more hackish.

While I was doing that I separated the menu for the pages in to a separate component so it’s easier to edit things in the future. It was in the base template. It is more of a matter of when I edit it instead of if I edit it.

I try to keep balance from in supporting stuff in older browsers and using newer features too. It is not like anyone reads this site but that’s jst the way I like to do things.

I do put real effort into trying to keep it compatible and put effort into accessibility. I know it is not perfect in either way, but it is a learning process for me. This site is also just a hobby.
