Our original two Firefly Petunia Seedlings seem to be thriving, and a few new ones popped up from another batch of seeds we put in the pots that had nothing growing.

Last summer, we were walking through a garden center and saw a hibiscus plant. It said that it was a hardy hibiscus, so we decided to pick one up and see if it would survive the winter.

I went out on the patio for a bit to get some sunshine this afternoon. I watched a robin hop around in the backyard for a bit. Just before I came in, I noticed bright yellow flowers on weeds.

Once again, we brought our hibiscus plant inside for the winter. It seems to be doing better now than ever. We made room to put it in front of a window that actually gets some natural sunlight.

We picked up some houseplants in the spring. The snake plant has been in the window, getting plenty of sun. We noticed a stem coming up with a bud, so I guess it's going to flower.

It's almost February now and I noticed that our hibiscus had a flower that opened. It's a nice change of pace from the temperature in the bedroom being in the upper 40s.

Today I took a look at my hibiscus cutting that I've had in water for a few weeks. It definitely has little white root bumps that are very noticeable now.

I've been wanting to try rooting a new hibiscus plant from the one we currently have and got the chance to try it out. It seems to be getting tiny white bumps on the stem that's in the water.

Just for shits, I stuck some of the milkweed plants I started from seeds in pots that we had lying around the other year. They've come back up in those pots since. This spring they seem to be doing really well in the pots.

Our original milkweed was supposed to be pink but it turned out to be white. The monarchs still loved it. We saw pink milkweed last summer and bought some to plant. That was late in the season so we weren't sure if it'd grow bt it is sprouting now.

Our hibiscus is still alive after the squirrels ate it up last fall. It's been blooming and slowly improving all winter while it has been in the house.

Our hibiscus has lots of little flower buds. I'm really surprised with it being winter and the fact that a squirrel had eaten it bare last fall before we brought it inside.

Something reminded me of my greenhouse at Pop's house growing up. I loved plants and he built that thing for me out of scrap wood and windows. I loved it.

Our hibiscus is blooming just a couple of months after the squirrels ate it bare save a couple of flower buds. It's been slowly recovering and now the buds have opened.

Our hibiscus seems to be coming back for the second time this year. First in the spring it got sunburn and lost all its leaves. Now it's recovering from a squirrel all but eating it bare.

We have been wanting to plant milkweed for a couple of years now. We finally found some and planted it in our front yard. Last spring, we actually had monarch butterflies and caterpillars on it.

Something reminded me of all my cactuses when I was in elementary school. I loved plants and growing them. Cactus and succulents were my favorites because they were different.

We searched and searched for butterfly weed last year but wound up only finding swamp milkweed. It came back up this year. We don't have any monarchs yet but a bumble bee found it and has been hanging out on it all day.

Last fall I gathered a bunch of milkweed seeds from the pods on our plants. I thought it was worth a try to try to grow some. It took forever for them to sprout but they eventually did after I had given up.

When I was a kid I had a venus fly trap and thought it was to coolest thing. I was thinking about it and found and bought one again. I've been wanting to get one for years now.
