I am strongly considering going back to Hugo. Not because I don’t like Zola, but because Hugo supports AsciiDoc which looks very intriguing to me.

All these years, I’ve been using hex colors because that’s what I knew. I recently read about HSL, which is more intuitive, so I switched to that.

I am messing around with using Zola to generate SVG charts from my monthly and yearly weather data.

Hugo has absolutely served me well. I still struggle with the go templates, though, and recently rediscovered Zola. It’s more mature now than it was in the past and should do everything I need from it. The templates are much more natural for me.

The idea of using a dict to make my weather partials a little easier to read has intrigued me for a while. I did some learning and then finally got around to switching it over. Looks much cleaner now.

I just discovered what render hooks are in Hugo. I never looked into it before, so I took the past couple of days to switch my image processing short code into one of those.

Hugo can do some neat things with dart sass, so I’ve been trying to switchhttps://www.bookofjoe.com/ to using it. Libsass seems to be depreciated, so I switched to the newer one. Luckily, the Linux binary works in FreeBSD

I got the itch to try out a new hosting provider. It seems to happen every so often for me. It’s so spontaneous when I get that itch. While doing that I decided to try out ZFS, finally after all these years and the PF firewall.

This morning I clicked a link to a news article about something, and as it turns out the website was a heap of shit. It was a new low for annoyances, with a sticky header that took ⅔; of the page and an autoplay video in it.

I’ve been working on converting some of the shortoces I use in Hugo into partials. It took some time but it will make my life easier.

I have been wanted to remove the days from the URLs on my blog for a while now. I finally did that after figuring how to make Caddy redirect the old URL to the new one.

The modern web has so many annoyances. It was funny to see a page about them having so many of them itself. You know, the sticky social links crap and don’t forget the delayed pop ups.

I don’t need to have an animated scroll effect on a website when I click support. Stop with being fancy and just work.

I am looking into alternative editors for markdown. I’ve been using Kwrite and it works well enough but if I could find something more catered to markdown I think it might be useful.

The endless scroll that websites have had the fad of using has become annoying. There’s times where it makes sense, like when things are a feed but most times it’s just annoying.

Some websites are just bad. I checked out a website for a local business and would skip over them because the website is so bad.

It’s been almost a year now since I switched from WordPress to Hugo It’s been a learning curve at times but has been great for me and I no longer have to worry about my WordPress getting hacked fro not updating it. It’s also nice not having to keep PHP up to date.

One thing I’ve noticed long ago and have probably complained about it before is is that restaurants have some of the worst websites out there. Their fancy but slow and have only useless information on the often times.

I don’t post here that often anymore. I’m just to busy. I’d used WordPress for years but had to keep it updated. I saw Hugo mentioned some place and thought it might be a better fit for me. I’m looking forward to learning to set it up the way I want ikt.

Our local newspaper has decided they want me to pay a few dollars to read 15 articles online. The thing is, I already have a subscription to get the physical version delivered. Why should I pay twice?

What is the deal with restaurants having such terrible websites. The worst aspect is how so many of them have a poor picture of the menu instead of text.

I’ve been noticing a trend recently of websites having a pop-up over the content begging for your email address. Nothing worse than adding extra clicks.

The website for Burger King has to be one of the worst that I have come across when it comes to accessibility.
