Edgesuite Errors Are Getting Annoying

I have noticed an uptick in the stupid EdgeSuite errors that I have been getting on the website. Major websites simply are not working for me. I first noticed it with Lowe’s and MLB earlier this year.

Before that, there were sporadic CDN errors like that and the stupid Cloudflare ones, but things usually just worked. Now they are flat-out refusing to load. There is no explanation.

As usual with this sort of thing, there is a link to a page about the error but no actual help or suggestions.

I am not on a VPN, so that isn’t a problem. It shouldn’t be an issue either. The website should just serve the damn page.

I have tried disabling adblock, and I shouldn’t have to do that. If everything weren’t bloated with trackers and intrusive ads, I would have to use an adblocker, but greed wins. The worst thing about the ad stuff is the occasional malicious stuff that gets through.

It reminds me of the dark days of sites requiring Internet Explorer. The only difference nowadays is that it is Chrome instead of Internet Explorer. In some ways it’s worse since Google uses Chrome to force ad stuff.

My best guess is that I am blocked because my “fingerprint” is unusual since I use Firefox under FreeBSD. I should be able to use what works for me. This has cost Lowe’s my business when I was searching for something. Same with some others. If it’s possible, I will get what I was searching for elsewhere.

Of course a lot of these sites also push their app. The app is nothing mroe than the website in a self contained browser that has no way to disable tracking and can track when ever they want. Not only that, but the apps are a struggle to use for me. Typically they are stuck with the microscopic poor-contrast text that is nearly impossible for me to see. They almost never have a dark mode either, which is so much easier for me to see.

It also seems that more and more sites have me do CAPTCHAs or other bullshit just to view it. It pauses and says some garbage about verifying my security. Then it wants me to prove I am human. Most of the traffic on the web is crawlers and bots anyway, so just cut the crap.

Please just let me view the stuff I want to see in a way that works for me. Stop with the artificial restrictions.
