Comcast Was Basically Unusable Most Of Yesterday

I know it sounds like a broken record, but Comcast was completely unusable most of the day yesterday. It would be up for a minute or two and then down for 20. Same thing with the signal going away that has been happening for years.

After they did work earlier this year, it was great for several months and then back to the same old, but worse. During that time we had a stable connection. It was more stable than it ever had been since we lived here.

I was thinking about maybe trying a new cable modem, but I don’t want to spend the money since we are moving to fiber in the near future. If we called, I wouldn’t be surprised if they told us we needed a new one and tried to rent one to us. That is a waste of money.

I do not want to rent one. No, I don’t want one with their Xfinity WiFi either. I only want them to run the line and maintain the fucking thing.

I think the problem is most likely outside our house since it has been doing this for years. It even did it when we had our old modem. The neighbor whose drop comes from the same pole said she wasn’t having issues yesterday, but she has similar issues. Over the past several years, I have seen them messing with stuff up there.

It should be interesting to see how Comcast may change over the coming years with fiber ISPs getting into their natural monopolies. Between the actual competition and the old boomers that think that they always did things one way so they won’t change dying off, they should be losing many customers. It’s funny that they are pushing the deals now with 5-year price locks.
