Salt Looked Like Snow
This morning I woke up extra early and felt half out of it when I went downstairs to get coffee. We were at Joy’s last night, and I drank a bit more than usual, so sometimes that makes my sleep less than ideal. Last night was a case of that.
I peeked through the blinds on the front door and noticed how white the street was. I thought maybe we had more snow showers move through overnight, but then I realized that there was nothing on the cars. It wasn’t adding up in my tired brain.
Fast forward to later this morning when we were ready to head to the grocery store, and when I went to cross the street, I realized how much salt the borough had put down. I guess they had to do with the squall yesterday, which was not enough to melt and run off but was enough to make the ground slippery. I guess there was a fair amount left from the ice and other nickel-and-dime snowfalls we had adding up.
That Is Not Snow
I have seen excessive salt on the road before, but I can’t remember seeing it like this. It’s good for safety, but it can’t be good for the environment or the borough’s salt budget.
