Rsync To exFAT-formatted Drive

I had to get a new MicroSD card for something and I had the idea this morning that I would just use rsync to copy the files. It made sense, and then I could set it and walk away while it’s copying half a terabyte of FLAC files.

It created the directories just fine but would error copying over the files. I did a quick search and came across an answer on Stack Overflow saying that rsync cannot use the -a option. I removed that, and all is working as expected now.

Doing a quick search, I found that answer on stackoverflow.com. That website used to be such a useful gem to get quick answers, but now it isn’t as good as it once was. I wanted to share it here for my own future use, and maybe even someone else might find it helpful. It is something I will do so rarely I will forget about it. It will be in the command history too for the Fish shell that I use.

Both rsync and rclone are such useful tools. Doing it this way is so much better than the last time when I just used cp to copy the files and stopped it various times.
