Here's how I converted an image PDF to a JPEG file

Yesterday someone sent me an old picture that they found since I’ve been doing my genealogy. In the past my first though would have been to use one of the “cloud” services that will do it. They work well enough but who knows what they keep or track and use for AI these days.

Now I know I have ImageMagick installed. I use it for other things. My first thought was that should have something to do the trick for me. I figured the convert tool ought to get the job done. I use that sporadically and now when I do it’s mostly through a script that I wrote so I’m not super familiar with the syntax so off to kagi I went.

Here’s what I settled on to get the job done for me.

convert -density 300 Untitled-document.pdf -quality 100 -trim output Image.jpg
