It has been weighing heavily on my mind this year, but 13 years ago today, I had my thyroid removed, thanks to me having MEN2A and medullary thyroid cancer due to that.

It was discovered that I have medullary thyroid cancer and that I have the RET mutation that causes MEN2a. Many in my family have it. Luckily, I had no pheochromocytoma, but I did have thyroid cancer. Recovery from the thyroidectomy has been fine.
