Wish We had More Public Transpiration Around Here
Going to Philly, one thing that always crosses my mind is how ridiculously convenient public transportation is. We have some buses here, but those are only during the day and really only go to Lancaster, where you’d have to switch to go someplace outside the area.
As much as the area has been built up over the past decade or so, you would think they would expand it. I guess they have a point. So many of the developments are for older people retiring here from New York and stuff. You would think they would be willing to use it if I went someplace they wanted to go.
I know a lot of the local older people are too good to ride a bus. Even younger ones. Like I have heard people say they would walk before they got on the bus. There is a lot of residual racism in this area, though.
It is a shame that they are too proud to use something to help them.
The buses only really run during the day. If it were possible, it would be neat to go into Lancaster for dinner or something like that. I guess in a way it is a Catch-22. There needs to be enough running to make using it convenient enough for enough demand to support it.
That is not something I can imagine happening here, though. There are too many run it like a business people out there. They are too brainwashed by Fox News and stuff, repeating the same thing over and over, to be able to realize that some things are more valuable to the community than profit itself.
The rural roads are certainly not profitable. The cheap municipalities using the state police rather than having their own or partnering with other small municipalities to have a shared one of their own aren’t running things like a business. Actually, I guess in hindsight they are running things like the modern way of doing business.
We are lucky to have the train station here in town and reasonably frequent trains to Philly and on to New York or Harrisburg if those are places I wanted to go. I can’t begin to express how grateful I am to have access to that. I do wish all the trains stopped here, and one very late at night would be nice so we wouldn’t have to stay over for a night game.
