We Went To The Capybara Cafe

While we were visiting St. Pete, we went to the The Capybara Café in St. Pete, Florida. My girlfriend has been wanting to have a capybara for years now, which, of course, isn’t feasible for us. I had been wanting to find something for her that she would enjoy outside of visiting my sister. The sunset was one thing.

By dumb luck I came across the Capybara place, and I think I remembered seeing it last year when they first opened. With the hurricanes and stuff going on down in Florida last year, it was on the back burner. I knew I had to do this, if not this trip, another trip. Obviously we did it this trip.

It really was a neat experience and well worth it. I knew they had several types of animals. The price wasn’t bad for it being about the experience. Our group was fairly small, so that was an added bonus. There were only a few people in there at the same time as us.

They had baby goats! I think they said that the goats were only two weeks old. The goats wanted to eat the kale we had to feed the capybaras, but the employees told us they shouldn’t have it as they are still eating from the bottle. The goats did manage to grab some from me.

This capybara was my favorite. It was just lying there. I don’t know if it was sleeping, but it seemed perfectly happy to just not move. Eventually it did lift its head up and look around.

My Spirt Animal

I caught this capybara just lounging here. It reminded me a lot of the way our guinea pigs used to lay, except for Snuggles, who always had one or both back feet out.

They had several turtles just wandering around too. I wasn’t expecting to see them. I admit I was a little concerned about me stepping on one because I don’t see well and they are snow.

They had another animal wandering around. I forget what they said it was, but it looks like it would be in the same family as guinea pigs and capybaras.

Three Animals

This picture shows three different animals. There is a capybara, a turtle on the floor and some sort of rodent in the same family.

It was a neat experience and well worth it. I am glad to have done it. The people working there seemed compassionate about the animals. Who knows what happens behind the scenes, but from what I saw, they seemed good.

I learned that capybaras have very rough fur. I am sure I read that in the past, but I was surprised when I first felt it. They are very chill animals that just wander around like, whatever.

There was one of them that had learned to bite and pull at pants to get attention for more food.

I could see myself and my girlfriend going back. I would suggest checking it out if you like animals.
