Third Accumulating Snowfall Of December
As mild as the fall was, winter kicked in now. We have had some real arctic shots move in already with record or near-record lows. The snow has not been anything major, but it has been snow that has accumulated. This morning, the ground was white again.
There was just a puny half an inch or so of snow on the ground. It was wet snow. There was enough to give that snowy day weather sound to the air where it sort of muffles the sound a bit. But it was enough to make everything white and pretty. This is the third time that we have woken up with white ground. The last time it actually stuck around for a bit too! This batch will be gone as quickly as it fell since it should be in the 40s today with some rain. It’s still nice to see it!
I really wish I could believe this was the sign of a good winter to come, but it’s early and the pattern will probably flip just in time for the core of winter. Sure it will be cold, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we have already had our coldest relative to average air mass move through already.
We do have a trip planned that is very important to me this winter. I hope we do not get snow to interfere with that trip! I may never say the phrase “I hope we don’t get snow” again. I can guarantee that it has not come out of my mouth in the past. It is not the sort of thing that would even cross my mind to think.
