St. Petersburg Pier
On our last day down in St. Petersburg, they showed us around the city a bit, and we had breakfast. I could not really see the menu, so I had Molly pick something for me. That order wasn’t acceptable, and they insisted I had the Taylors pork roll. That turned out perfect because I had just been thinking about how I had not had that in years. Pork roll is just not something you see here in Lancaster County. Back in Bucks County, I ate it a lot. Got it a lot at the Colonial deli.
This morning it was clear and a lot less windy. The day before, it was pouring before dawn, then very cloudy and drizzling after sunrise. With the cold front’s passing, it started to dry up and eventually cleared, but the day was windy.
It was a real treat to see the sun over Tampa Bay. One thing I would love to do down here when we are visiting is see the sun rise over the bay and set over the Gulf during the same day! I am a sucker for sunrises and sunsets.
Sun Over Tampa Bay

This was my first time seeing St. Pete Pier. We didn’t have time to go out on it, but I think I would like to do that someday. I had actually looked into doing that, but this trip was so short with so little time. My real reason was to visit.
St. Pete Pier

The clarity of the water in the bay really stood out to me. The sun was high enough but not so high you could see through the normally reflective surface. I don’t remember seeing water this clear except maybe the springs when we went camping. You could see the water’s bottom and fish and stuff swimming past as if they were in the air. That was really neat to see. They said the gulf is normally clear like that too, but with the wind yesterday it was rough, and I’m sure mixing a lot of sand and stuff into the water.
Very Clear Water

We headed over to see the pier and walk out on the little beach that they had built next to it. There were plenty of gulls on the sand out near the water.
Gulls Near The Bay

We were able to walk under the pier. They said normally you can’t and told us about the bay getting very low in the hurricanes the other year. By the picture, you can see that it’s normally in the water. That was interesting to see.
