Sitting Here With The Windows Open

After a slow start this morning, the sun came out early this afternoon. The temperature was off to the races after it hung out in the mid- to upper 40s all morning.

The sky cleared, and the wind picked up from the south. The temperature began to rise quickly through the 60s and then through the 70s. I got some time outside while the sun was out brightly. Some clouds were forming, though. Of course, the entire time I was out there, a neighbor’s dog was barking and whining. It never fails. We used to have a neighbor with a dog that barked very loudly for hours at a time.

The guy down the street had dogs he left outside all the time. They barked all day and all night until he let them in. That was nonstop. I had to laugh one day when I heard someone yell, Shut the fuck up.

Now I am sitting here typing this post, and I have the bathroom and bedroom windows open so there is a killer breeze coming through the house. It will bring some fresh air in here before it cools off this week.

When the wind is from a more southerly direction, like today, or a more northerly direction, we can get an outstanding breeze through the house. Today is one of those days. I didn’t sleep well or long enough. I am thinking about going and stretching out on the bed a bit on my table and letting it blow across me.

Between the weather today and the Phillies being almost done with spring training, it is giving me spring fever in a big way. I can almost hear Harry Kalas’s voice on the radio calling a baseball game when I was a little kid.

The nicest thing about today is it is not overly humid. The dew point is in the middle 50s with the temperature in the lower 80s, so it feels very comfortable. It’s not dry air, so it’s drying out, but it’s also not too humid and a sweaty mess.

Today’s high temperature has far exceeded the forecast. I hope that it helps fuel some fun thunderstorms later on this evening. After last week’s disappointment, to say the least, I need a good storm. I know it’s only March, and it is our third chance of the year so far, but this is my blog, and I can whine if I’d like to.
