Philly Chinese Lantern Festival

Last week we were in Philly for a game, but we got to talking about the Chinese Lantern Festival and wanting to go to it. With the Phillies game, we really didn’t have time. I had also been talking to my cousin about meeting with her, but we couldn’t make it work. One thing led to another and we decided to head back down to to the lantern festival and meet with her. We hadn’t seen each other in well over a decade. We were very close growing up. Technically we’re not blood but we’re still cousins to us.

We took the El over to Franklin Square from our hotel in Center City. For once that wasn’t an adventure. I was surprised how packed the train was though. The weather had gotten nice after the nonstop excessive heat we had been having, so it was a nice walk up 6th Street. We found a place to sit and relax a bit while waiting for her to get there. I can admit at first it was not all that impressive for as much as it cost, but once we started walking around we were finding more nooks and crannies.

We went to the nearby mini golf course to play a game. Molly and I haven’t played at all yet this year because life’s been so hectic, so we thought it would be fun. My nephew wanted to play too. It was dusky, then dark by the time we got done. I could not see anything, and I did so poorly, but I still had fun. It’s about making memories.

The darkness changed everything over at the lantern festival. It was just amazing in the dark, and you could really see how detailed all of them were. I could have stayed there until they closed to wander around.
