More Firefly Petunia Seeds Germinating

A couple of weeks ago I had posted about our Firefly Petunia seeds sprouting. Those original two plants seem to be thriving now. They are moving beyond the original leaves and growing additional ones. The original leaves are growing also.

Sadly, nothing else came up from the original batch of seeds. Those are so small, though. It is not at all easy to tell what was a seed and what was junk from the seed pods. I did my best to take the whole pod last autumn, knowing how tiny the seeds are. The other issue was there was no way of knowing what was viable or not at that time.

About a week ago we put more seeds from the bag on the soil to see if they sprouted. Fast forward to today, and there is green coming up, sure enough. These ones seem to be growing a little faster than the original ones. The sun is a bit stronger now, and the garage is a bit warmer, so maybe that’s a factor? I don’t know.

I have not been able to observe any glowing yet from the first ones, and the new ones are too tiny yet. We get a ton of light pollution coming in our garage because the neighbor is afraid of the dark, I think, and has a miniature sun on the back of their house. On Reddit and such, I have noticed that some seedlings glow and some do not. I hope some of ours do! If not, that’s okay too. It’s neat to grow a new plant from self-harvested seeds. That’s new to me!

This picture is of a tiny seedling coming from a couple of petunia seeds. There are also two larger seedlings thriving in a pot on the left.
