Just A Do Something Kind Of Day Today
I thought I slept well enough last night but woke up still feeling tired. Granted, I was up later than I like to be. I think the main factor for me not feeling it at all this morning was the fact that I slept in until almost 6:00.
All morning the feeling stuck around, but when I first got up, I felt like my back needed to crack. It did, but not fully, I don’t think. I am fine, but it has had me feeling lazy.
To add to the pile of reasons to not feel like doing anything at all is my head was feeling pretty stuffy. I have been feeling it in the back of my throat but also in my right ear to a point, so it leaves me with that just slightly off feeling. I guess there is pollen around now.
Eventually, late this morning, I decided to get off my ass and do a WOD after lazing around all morning. I feel this way at times, often in the early spring like now. It makes me think twice about what I want to do in a WOD.
The workout I found to do today was one from later this week. It was just movement (rowing for me), air squats, and deadlifts. The only thing I did remotely intensely with this workout on this day was using the 97-pound kettlebell for the deadlifts. I do not like dumbbell deadlifts. They just feel like something is off. I tend to hit my feet with the dumbbells since they want to turn out.
The workout did seem to open my head some. It usually does help, though. I am glad I did it. The days when I feel the least like working out are the ones when I try my best to at least get some movement in. That builds consistency, and it’s better than not moving at all.
Later on this afternoon or evening, I may do something else out in the garage. At least I am hoping to. Maybe it might be as simple as hopping on the rower. We shall see what happens.
It makes a lot of sense for me to have these days. I don’t take rest days, so I feel like going slower and less intense turns it more into an active recovery day. Over the past few weeks I have been hitting WODs hard with intensity and being uncomfortable with my pacing. I have also been using heavier weights than I have in quite some time for most of them.
I have been looking at tickets on SeatGeek for the Phillies’ opening day game. They are, as always, costly. I think last year we lucked out because it was postponed. I think we will go to one this weekend but am not so sure about opening day unless something shows up at the last minute. We would rather pay the same amount to go to two games later in the season instead of one. Opening day is a blast, though!
