Hit A WOD Hard This Morning
I slept pretty well last night. Of course, I woke up at my normal time, well before 4:00 AM, but that meant I got to drink coffee early. I think this morning I was pacing around the house eagerly to get a WOD in. The one they have programmed for today looked interesting to me and not overly complicated. The others this week look uninteresting at best.
The one for today was 4-minute AMRAPs of a varying combination of deadlifts, squats, and/or hang cleans. I chose to do it with the dumbbells this morning, but I will do it with the sandbag sometime, and I am sure the barbell too. I went with the 35-pound dumbbells as I am getting myself more comfortable with the heavier weights. The WOD wasn’t easy, and I finished two of the AMRAPs within the goal time. In the last one, I was one round short. I felt like I didn’t have great flow that round, so I had to think a bit about the movements.
This one really spiked my heart rate and felt great in the most horrible of ways. If I were not an atheist and believed in souls, I would believe part of my soul died doing this workout. I miss the simple, effective stuff like this. I put on my non-workout clothes and decided to eat something. My bread looked like it was getting moldy, so I skipped eating. When my girlfriend gets home, I will ask her to use her eyes to look at it. I thought it tasted odd yesterday. Oops. The saga of being visually impaired...
I may do something else out in the garage later. I am hoping to get back out there and get on the rower or maybe do this week’s twenty-rep squats after I recover some. Time will tell. I think it depends on how I am feeling since I don’t really have anything substantial to eat without bread.
