Got A Cheese Steak From Angelo's Pizzeria In South Philly
We had plans and a room to stay over night after the game so we made it a point to intend to get an actual legit real cheese steak while we were there. Molly watched YouTube videos to see which she wanted to try. Of course I emphasized that we were not going to Pat’s or Geno’s. They’re not bad, but they are tourist stuff.
She saw and wanted to try Angelo’s Pizzeria South Philly. The game was so bad we left in the 9th inning or so and got on the orange line to get up there. We already had a rain delay when the game was about to start. One lone thunderstorm popped up. While it cooled the temperature a bit, it really pumped up the humidity.
We got off and started walking towards the place we were going. Molly was feeling pretty convinced we were not going the right way. She doesn’t expect things to be hidden in a neighborhood like this.
We finally got there, and there were loads of people everywhere. We ordered our food and sat on a curb at a nearby park until they texted us. It was a long wait.

When we finally got our food we found bleachers in a nearby park and ate it. I ate about two thirds of mine and her half of hers and we took the rest back to the hotel. Finished eating it as soon as we got there I think.
The cheese steak was the best I have had in many many years. To be fair, though, up here they never get it right. Most places call it a Philly cheesesteak, and you know that’s a sign that it’s going to be shit right from the start.

The roll was perfect. The meat was perfect and had a lot of flavor and plenty of cheese. I highly recommend checking them out!
Next I want to try either Skinny Joey’s or John’s Roast Pork, depending on what’s easier to get to. Likely Skinny Joey’s, since it’s right off the subway.
When we were done eating we ended up skipping the subway and just walking back to our hotel. I was washing out for my girfriend’s knee that bugs her at times but really I know that at least this art of Philly is walkable and distances aren’t as far as they seem. I really do love Philly and have been missing it at times recently.
