First Heavy WOD In A Bit
I have not been posting as much about my fitness endeavors as of late. That’s because I have been doing the bare minimum and doing that inconsistently at best. I have had a lot of anxiety about my trip. Not bad, anxiety. I think a better way to word it would be excitement. I haven’t had a lot of focus.
The air has been very dry too, and that takes me a bit to get used to. Even in the winter I sweat a lot when I’m working out. It just evaporates much better this time of the year, so at least I am not dripping sweat for an hour after finishing.
Last week we had the prolonged arctic shot, then clearing snow with a lot of sleet on top of it. It was so nice of the douche to park his SUV in the one lone spot that was clear for him. Sense my sarcasm? Had to dig out a new spot. When he was gone the next morning, I put the ice back in the spot, and it froze solid as a rock. I am that petty.
Today I was feeling pretty good and wanted to get a good workout in. I wanted something a little more intense, so I thought I would use the heavy kettlebell. I call the 97-pounder the motivator because I feel like it motivates me. Before getting it, I never would have imagined I would have used it as much as I actually do. I was hesitant to buy it because I thought it would be more of a novelty, like something to brag about than use in a workout.
This workout was a ladder going up by two at a time with swings with filler in between. At least that is how I see the stupid double unders. The swings really felt great. They felt heavy, but I didn’t break until I got to the round of 8. I knew I was in trouble then. I came out too hot in this workout, then found myself trying to settle my breathing and heart rate to keep moving. Using a lighter kettlebell I would have taken less time to do that, but I want to have full focus with this heavy one.
I can never say it enough times. In your fitness journey, you have to be uncomfortable in different ways. That’s why sometimes I go lighter and faster, sometimes heavier and slower. There is even a time and place for just moving.
