First Eighty Degree Day Of 2026

This morning it started out clear with the temperature in the upper 30s. It was a little drier and less humid than yesterday was. That helped the temperature get a faster start at jumping up as the sun came up. The temperature rose quickly and steadily through the morning. By lunchtime it was in the upper 70s and felt great outside.

I spent about an hour out on the patio again. I was really enjoying the fresh air and listening to the normal outside sounds, like the gentle breeze in the tree limbs. While outside, I was also hearing birds at times. Someone was burning leaves or brush because I could smell it. No liquid manure odors today, so that was a bonus.

I could have done without hearing what I think was a snowblower running out of gas out the next block over. I guess it could have been worse. The dolt next door usually does that when it’s nice outside and leaves it sitting right next to our patio. I end up shutting the windows most of the time because of the noise and fumes.

By early afternoon it was in the lower 80s, and the temperature hung out there for the most part this afternoon. There was bright sunshine with just a few small clouds popping up, but nothing between my location and the sun to cause any shade. It was a perfect early spring day.

These days feel so good after winter. This year we had the prolonged cold spell and shorter ones around that, so it was enjoyable to get the warmth.

The windows in the house were open to let that nice fresh air come through and get rid of the stale winter feeling.

I do get down on life sometimes, and I have been feeling that way lately. Most of the time I am pretty positive, but it has been a bit of a struggle these past few weeks. It’s all due to a temporary situation. This sort of weather always helps my mood improve, and this time is no different.
